Curriculum

At Durham Johnston we aim to provide challenging and varied learning in line with the National Curriculum.

Year 7s study:

Art
English
Ethics and Philosophy
Geography
History
ICT
Mathematics
Music
PE
Science
Languages
Technology

All students study French throughout the year and one term each of Spanish, German and Mandarin.

All students add a second language (German, Spanish or Latin) to French in year 8.

During Year 9 students choose some of the subjects they wish to study in Years 10 and 11.

As well as all of the basic subjects above we offer Business Studies, vocational courses and practical skills training for young people who will benefit most from that. As a Language College, languages are always a central part of the curriculum for all of our students.
