We were delighted to welcome Mandeville, one of the Olympic mascots to the school on Thursday. He joined students from our Olympic Club for the official launch of our new, state of the art, disabled access minibus.

We reported on Heaviside’s success at the end of last term as winners of the longest bunting competition. We were unable to publish photos in last week’s bulletin, so here they are.

We also reported that the sale of the Jubilee cake, prepared by pupils in the KS3 Textiles Club, together with some of our year 11 Textile students, raised the sum of £375 which is to be donated to the Durham Foodbank. Pupils have been invited to the main food distribution centre in Chester-le-Street on Monday where they will meet with staff and volunteers and learn about the work of the charity. They will take the opportunity to present the cheque to Head of the Durham Foodbank, Peter McLelland.
Please remember that even during the summer term year 7 – 11 girls may not wear sheer tights or bare legs with short skirts. If a skirt is short, tights MUST be thick – we prefer 60 denier or above. It is the only way to wear a short skirt with decency in a formal setting.
From September 2012 girls may not wear stretchy skirts. They must wear woven, not skin tight fabric. We will have skirts in school for girls to wear who arrive improperly dressed.
Mrs Roberts
Both the Year 11 Prom and the Year 13 Leavers Ball at the end of last half term were a great success. The girls looked beautiful in an array of gorgeous gowns and the boys were handsome and dapper in their sharp suits!
We wish them all the very best in their exams and for the future.
Cricket
Despite the dismal summer weather our cricket fixtures have all gone ahead and our teams have played at Barnard Castle, Queen Elizabeth High School and Monkwearmouth this week. Today our year 8 cricketers (boys and girl) are taking part in a tournament at Brandon Cricket Club. Results will be published next week.
Rounders
One Wednesday night our Rounders teams played at Framwellgate winning all their matches.
